South Midland Installations Ltd has an established reputation within the Petrochemical industry, based upon continuous involvement over twenty years.
South Midland Installations recognised the many impracticalities associated with underground storage tanks. The substantial civil works associated with both their installation and removal being a major factor along with potential seepage and the consequent ground contamination issues.
A growing awareness of environmental issues furthered our concerns and led us to investigate the possibilities of above ground storage and safe handling of flammable liquids, whilst seeking compliance with the stringent requirements of local fire authority regulations.
As a result, South Midland Installations were pioneers in respect of above ground storage tanks within the United Kingdom, introducing and selling Convault Tanks over a period of ten years, culminating in sales of more than fifty plus to clients ranging from Local Authorities to Military Establishments, with full compliance to current legislation.
The resulting acceptance of above ground storage facilities has now enabled South Midland Installations to introduce a more versatile and cost effective solution to the traditional heavy concrete product of the past, along with their associated transport and cranage requirements and cost implications.
Fuel Guard™
is a revolutionary integrally bunded
above ground storage tank with a newly developed fire protective membrane,
giving up to four hours protection to a 6mm Steel tank. Fuel Guard™ has
been classified for the containment of many products, which include Petrol,
Methanol, Cellulose Thinners, screen wash and antifreeze.

been awarded the Fire Protection Certificate of Approval and
added to the Lloyds Register.

all appropriate UL Listing and British Standards documentation
to certify fire protection that meets the stringent requirements
of these distinguished Authorities.
Should you wish to upgrade your existing facilities South Midland Installations are also in a position to offer, subject to site inspection, the same high standards of fire protection to your existing tanks from one thousand to one hundred and thirty thousand Litre capacities, with minimum disruption to production.
